Best authentic Italian food in the Lowcountry. The ambiance feels like the real deal. Your service has a real good chance to be assisted by a family member. The mozzarella sticks are logs . Huge and delicious. The soups are fresh made and go great with any dish. Love this place.
We went here last weekend and it was excellent. I had fried ravioli for an appetizer and my husband and a friend got calamari. We all were impressed with the food. For the main course, I had lasagna, hubby ordered chicken Alfredo and our friend chose baked ziti. We again were very impressed. The service was excellent, very good and timely. The ambiance is perfect with the red checkered table cloths and Christmas music softly playing. None of us had ever been there before and we were happy with our visit. We will definitely be back.
I'll lay it out pretty clearly. The atmosphere at the time I went was cozy and quiet around late lunch-time, with a 1950s feel to the decor, considering the red-white plaid table cloths. Our waiter, John, was suuuper friendly! That guy was personable, checked in with us often enough to where I never felt the need to call someone over, and even asked us how the food was! Just a little remark like that can make it feel like the service goes an extra mile, and John did that. I notice a lot of reviews mention the rudeness of the owner, but when I was there, she was cleaning up and talking to guests in a very welcoming manner, I didn't notice anything off about her. The food i ordered was the Veal Amici's and the Arancini di Riso. Both were scrumptious! For the price of the food, they delivered heaven on a plate. My only tiny complaint would be the gristle of the veal, but that's such a small issue in my mind, so I leave with 5 stars! Also, John brought us little umbrellas for our drinks, which was a fun little touch and again showed hospitality!
Such a nostalgic local gem. My husband is from NYC and this felt so familiar in its decor, menu, and service. I felt they offered a real value with nice portions of high quality food. Loved the fresh bread and salads. Nice wines by the glass, we had the Meomi Pinot and recommend it! The gnocchi with carbonara and shrimp was decadent and divine. The chicken parm was delicious, but I might ask to change the pasta sauce next time. The marinara was a bit acidic for our taste (but we still enjoyed it). Our server was both very efficient and the exact right amount of friendly. The owner Jennifer popped by each table during our visit. Next time I'm trying dessert!
